While out with my wife at her client’s location again this week, I noticed what appeared to be a maple key stuck to the side window of their car. Upon closer inspection, it was this moth. It seemed to not care as this giant cyclopian beast peered closely at it from several angles for a couple minutes, making clicking and chittering sounds as it move around. It just sat there, seemingly contemplating its own reflection in the window.
This image was shot with my 18-200 zoomed all the way out to get as close as possible. I was able to get within a foot of the moth from several angles, having to switch to manual focus in order to try to get the sharpest focus I could given the limitations I was working with. Despite my wobbles and yoga positioning, I think I did fairly well. (This is about a 75% crop/zoom of the original image.)
